Frequently Asked Questions

  • During the first session, we will ask you the basics:

    • What are your symptoms?

    • What brought you to therapy?

    • What do you feel is wrong in your life?

    • Some questions about your history, including your childhood, education, relationships (family, romantic, friends), your current living situation, and your career

We will come to an agreement about what the end goal is, what progress looks like, options for methods to be employed, and the ins and outs of patient confidentiality.

  • 50 Minute Therapy session - $190

    50 Minute Couples session- $225

Sliding scale rates are available with discussion.

  • In the consultation we will discuss your current experiences and what led you to reach out. We will also discuss how therapy can help and some options for treatment.

  • All major credit cards are accepted as well as debit. Cash and Etransfer are also accepted. A receipt with the information required for reimbursement for insurance coverage will be provided upon receiving the payment.

  • HST will not be charged for these sessions due to membership with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.

  • As we are an appointment-based fee-for-service profession, late cancellations affect our livelihood and also affect our ability to offer available spots to clients who are needing support in a timely manner. Because of this, we require 24 hour notice for cancellations or you will be responsible for the regular session fee.

We understand that there are exceptional cases, ie. illness or an emergency where it may not be possible to provide such notice, and we are willing to be flexible in these specific circumstances on a case by case basis.

  • Direct billing is available via Green Shield and Blue Cross Insurance providers only.

For other insurance providers, if you have benefits that you are hoping to use for your sessions, please note that you will be responsible for paying for the sessions yourself and submitting your receipts for reimbursement with your benefits provider directly. Please ensure that your coverage corresponds with the appropriate discipline that your therapist is registered in. For example, Sunlife will cover MSW (Master of Social Work) and Psychologists only.

  • What you share during your therapy session is kept confidential. No contents of the therapy sessions, whether verbal or written may be shared with another party without your written consent or the written consent of your legal guardian.

The following is a list of three exceptions to the confidentiality policy:

    1. Under subpoena from a court of law

    2. Duty to Warn and Protect

If you disclose, or we find there is a real risk to harm yourself, the therapist must attempt to notify your family and notify legal authorities. In addition, if you disclose, or we find out there is a risk for you to harm another person, the therapist is required to take the proper steps to notify the appropriate authorities.

    3.  Abuse of Children and Vulnerable Adults

If you disclose, or it is suspected, that there is abuse or harmful neglect of children or vulnerable adults (i.e. the elderly or disabled), the therapist must report this information to the appropriate agency and/or legal authorities.
